The Most Used Toys in Our House!

Ice Cream Shop, Wooden Trains, Kinetic Sand, Magnetic Tiles, Floor Scooter, Wagon

The infamous Melissa and Doug Ice Cream Shop does not disappoint. My kids are 3 and 6 and both get so much use out of this toy. Not more than 2 days go by without me hearing one of them shouting “WHO WANTS ICE CREAM!?”. I also really appreciate that there is a place for every single item to be stored inside of this toy, no loose parts that have no home!

Wooden trains are having a resurgence in our house. The original set was great, but adding more tracks to our collection has really expanded my kids ability to play with them, making the coolest set ups! We recently added a battery powered locomotive to the mix and they are loving it!

I know some parents probably look at kinetic sand and cringe at the thought of the mess, but I promise, it’s worth it (and the mess isn’t that bad!). This exact set has been a fan favorite in my house for 5 years and is still going strong. Sure, sometimes the sand spills out. We just vacuum it up and when needed, we get a small refill bag of kinetic sand. This had bought me HOURS of quiet time!

The beauty in magnates is the options are ENDLESS! This 100-piece set is a great starter kit and lets you build so many different things. If anyone ever asks what they can get my kids as a gift and I can’t think of anything else, I always say more magnatiles!

We have a pair of these floor scooters and the kids really use their imagination to come up with different lifestyle to do with these. Some days they lay on their bellies and pretend to play human sized hungry hungry hippos. Others, they balance a box on top and turn it into a boat. These are wildly nostalgic for me as a 90s kid and don’t disappoint.

This is such a simple wagon, but can be used for so many different imaginative play scenarios. Babydoll transporter, cargo trailer behind toy truck, heavy toy hauler.
